Mr. Curtis Lee Farrar, son of the late Earnest and Laura (Burnette) Farrar, was born September 30th, 1936 in Carrboro, NC. On Wednesday May 25, 2022, he left his earthly home and entered eternal rest. God saw fit in all his wisdom to allow us to borrow him for a little more than 85 years. In his youth he attended the Orange County schools. On January 6th,1962, he was united in holy matrimony to Carrol A. Jones and from this union three children were born, Dana Farrar, Darryle Farrar and Lara Farrar. Curtis was blessed with four additional children from two other relationships, Annette Horton, Ann Burnette, Paul DeGraffenreid and Belinda Hickman. He worked at NC Memorial Hospital where he retired after 30 years. He enjoyed deep sea fishing out of Morehead City, listening to music, gardening and was an avid football fan. He attended many games at UNC. He attended the Salvation Army Church of Smithfield in Johnston County, NC. He was a great brother, loving husband, attentive father and Grandfather. Most importantly, he was a great Christian with a generous heart and a love for others.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a beloved wife, Carrol A. Jones Farrar of Durham, NC; two sons; Paul DeGraffenreid of Chapel Hill, NC and Darryle Lee Farrar of Durham, NC; five daughters, Ann Burnette of Durham, Annette Horton of Chapel Hill, Dana Farrar of Durham, Lara Farrar of Graham, and Belinda Hickman (Morgan) of Smithfield, NC; four Grandsons, Monté Burnette of Durham, Darryle Farrar (Erica) of Douglasville ,GA, Danté Farrar (Kandace) of Chapel Hill, and Bryson Hickman of Smithfield, NC; five Granddaughters, Melanie Burnette of Durham, NC, Nicole Wilson (Stacy) of Raleigh, NC, Samaria Farrar of Greensboro, NC, Tiera Farrar of Raleigh, NC, and Aliyah Turrentine of Charlotte, NC; four Great Grandsons, Jacari, RJ, Darryle III, Davis, and Tristan; three Great Granddaughters, Myah, Taylor and Avery; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his five brothers, Alec Bolin of Chatham County, Alexander Farrar of Durham, Manda Ray Farrar of Chapel Hill, James Wallace Farrar of Chapel Hill, Thomas Farrar of Chapel Hill; Two sisters, Nellie O’Neal and Celia Mae Fuller, both of Chapel Hill.
