Obituary

DeVaughn Best, Jr., affectionately known as “June Bug”, was born March 30, 1985, to Angeline Kay Williams and DeVaughn Best, Sr., at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Goldsboro, NC, and transitioned from this life on February 18, 2023, at home.

He is preceded in death by his father; his maternal grandparents, James and Rebecca W. Lewis; and his paternal grandparents, Dock Herman and Luberta Smith Best.

Cherished and special memories are left to his sons, Jakari and James; his mother, Angeline Kay Williams; brothers, Kevone Best, Henri McCullen, Jason McCullen, and Shawn Williams; his sister, Andiwanda Campbell; his nieces, Korinne Ramsey and Layla O’Daniel; aunts, Sharron James-Bizzell and Linda Mathis (Wayne); uncles, Alton Lewis (Erica), James Lewis (Brenda), Lynn Best, and Kim E. Lofton.
