Obituary
Mr. James Henry Byrd, Sr. was born in Sanford, NC on April 21, 1940, to the late Robert and Mattie Byrd. He departed this life on July 30, 2023, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. He attended the Durham Public School System and worked with the Town of Chapel Hill before taking an early retirement. He was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
James (Jim) leaves his loving wife of 62 years, Mrs. Eura Mae Byrd of Chapel Hill, Three children Ms. Valerie Marie Byrd of Chapel Hill, Ms. Nancy Jean Byrd of Durham and Mr. James Byrd Jr of Knightdale, NC. Twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, one brother Samuel/Odell Byrd (Ann) and a host of other relatives and friends.
