Mr. Josiah Maitreya Browning

Josiah Maitreya Browning was born on October 3, 1998 to Devora Mann (mother) and Eric Browning (father) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. 

Josiah attended elementary, middle and high school throughout the district of Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools. He played basketball at Guy B. Phillips middle school, Junior Varsity basketball and football, at East Chapel Hill High School and Basketball at Carrboro High School, where he graduated, receiving his high school diploma.

Josiah was a strong, ambitious, loving, caring young man with dreams of attending college on an athletic scholarship. He was inspired by NBA player, Lebron James, but was motivated by his mother, determined to place a smile upon her face every day he was blessed with.

Living such a short but powerful life journey, Josiah shared many memories with 4 sisters: Erika Mann, Bianca Browning, Kenyetta Browning and Jazzeriel Browning. And one brother: Cordera Browning, all of the same mother and father. Along with half-sister Brandy Norman (daughter of Eric). Josiah was also a loving and caring uncle to: Dhalia Eubanks (daughter of Bianca), Lawyer Smith (son of Erika) and Leilani Fuller (daughter of Kenyetta).

Our son, brother, uncle, friend and most importantly Child of God was called home, by our Heavenly Father on December 9, 2021 at the young age of 23. Josiah was a true blessing to his family and friends. Although life is seldomly easy for any of us, Josiah walked in faith and with courage knowing that better days would come. Josiah has left behind a legacy that will forever have a strong impact on every person that he has crossed paths with and on the small town of Chapel Hill (where he lived all 23 years of his life).

Though Josiah has been sent home to his Lord and Savior and his gracious life has come to an end, not a day will go by that he isn't missed. Not a day will go by that he isn't loved. Not a day will go by that we will not fight to keep alive he legacy of Josiah Maitreya Browning. Josiah is now free! And with God's calling, may he now rest in peace.
