Mr. Kenneth Leroy Burgess, Jr.

Mr. Kenneth Leroy Burgess, Jr., aged 60, of Chapel Hill, NC departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

Born on June 1, 1961 in Harlem, NY, he lived in Chapel Hill, NC for most of his life.  Kenny received his early academic education in the Chapel Hill School system, and his spiritual education in St. Joseph CME Church.  A graduate of the Chapel Hill High School class of 1979, Kenny matriculated in North Carolina Central University, his mother's alma mater, embarking upon a major in Communications.  He would leave NCCU to work in a number of establishments while deciding that the hospitality industry was his calling.  This was true not only of his secular life, but as he grew in Christ, he realized hospitality and service to be God's calling on his life, as he served St. Joseph CME Church as a Trustee, devoted driver of the Van Ministry, Fourth Sunday Breakfast Manager, President of the Men's Ministry, Male Chorus and Sunday School Superintendent.

A short obituary cannot do him justice, and the family's prayer is that the memories shared during this time will bring joy to all who knew him and who cherish his memory.  Kenny was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Sr, and his mother, Malissa Minor.  Immediate family members left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Arie N. Farrar of Orlando, FL; his sister, Cassandra G. Perry of Harlem, NY, his granddaughter, Keyana J. Johnson of Orlando, FL.  Kenny has a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, church family, work family, and dear friends in whose hearts Kenny will be remembered forever.
