Mr. Lewis Milton McCrimmon was affectionately Known as "Joe Lewis" and "Mack" among family and friends. He was born to the late Mr. Waddell Bagley (biological) and the late Mr. Joseph P. McCrimmon and the late Mrs. Marie Harrington McCrimmon-Hampton on October 22nd 1938, in Chatham County, Moncure, North Carolina. He entered eternal rest at UNC Hospice, Pittsboro, NC with his wife at his bedside.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal parents and grandparents; a brother Mr. Lawrence McCrimmon; and a daughter, Ms. Barbara Faye Lassiter.
Lewis received his early education in the Chatham County School System. He joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Moncure, North Carolina and began his spiritual walk with the Lord and remained faithful to his church. He supported his wife and had a great relationship with her in the Ministry of 42 years. He enjoyed Sunday School, Bible Study, Prayer Service, Vacation Bible School, Revivals and many other areas of their ministry. He Served on the Trustee Board and the Usher Board. In early years, he was a member of the Senior Choir, the Spiritual Voices, and a faithful member of the Male Chorus at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Moncure, North Carolina. He enjoyed singing and looked forward to their Male Chorus anniversary.
In his early years, he was employed by the North Carolina Memorial Hospital Chapel Hill NC, where he worked as a custodian and operating room technician. Later he pursued his dream to become a certified truck driver and worked for Consolidated Freightways, Raleigh, NC. Then he became a permanent employee by the Charlotte Observer Trucking Company Raleigh, NC for 26 years of service. He received numerous safe driver awards from 1992 to 1998. He was the employee of the month by going the extra mile. He retired in May 1999.
His other hobbies were yard maintenance and repairing his lawn mowers. Also, his favorite sport was fishing at the coastal areas. He enjoyed his wife’s expertise cooking. He was married to the love of his life, Reverend Linda M. McCrimmon for 42 years.
He leaves to cherish loving memories his beloved wife, Reverend Linda M. McCrimmon. Two sons, Mr. Jeffrey McCrimmon (LoLeta) Cameron, NC., Reginald A. Baldwin, Durham, NC. Sisters, Ms. Joyce Redmond, Bronx NY, Ms. Sharon Hampton, Danville VA, Ms. Marjorie A Foxx, Charlotte NC, Mrs. Kimberly High (Bruce), Killeen, Texas; Brothers: Minister Curtis Hampton (Jeanette), Greensboro, NC., Mr. Michael Bagley (Betty) Sanford NC; sister-in-law Ms. Carol Hamlett, Butner NC; a brother-in-law, Mr. Charles Baldwin, Chapel Hill, NC. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lewis also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was a papa to all children he met.
