Mr. Marquette D’Antoine Bowers Jr.

Marquette D'Antoine Bowers Jr, 19, passed away on Wednesday August 17th peacefully in his sleep at UNC Cancer Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina after fighting Osteosarcoma for 10 months. Marquette was born October 3rd, 2002 in Detroit Michigan at Grace Hospital. When Marquette was 15 months old he moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where he spent the rest of his life. Marquette was loved by many people including family members, teammates, coaches, and friends.

Marquette attended Estes Hills Elementary School, Phillips Middle School, East Chapel Hill High School and then Chapel Hill High School. When he graduated from Chapel Hill, he took his education and sports career to the next step and committed to Concordia University located in Chicago, Illinois. He was studying Computer Science while playing football for the Cougars. In August 2021, Marquette moved to Chicago and began his college career. In November 2021 he was diagnosed with cancer which caused him to have to take a break and come home to begin treatment. While he was at home getting treatment that did not stop his child-like wonder. Marquette was a soldier and he did not allow cancer to stop him from living his best life. He traveled all over the US to visit family and friends. He spent his time hanging out with friends, going to the mountains, going to different cities, going to the beach and much more. He was always looking for a way to have fun with his people.

Marquette is preceded in death by: Christopher Nesbitt (Grandfather), Dorothy Little (Great Grandmother), and Cornell Fish (Great Uncle).

Marquette is survived by:

Jamie Little (Grandmother),

Marquette Bowers Sr. (Father), Krystal Little (Mother) and John French (Godfather).

Siblings: DaLonta Little, Aniyah Bowers, NaKyla Little, N’Siyah Little, Shyanne Roberson, Caleb French, Gabe Lebold, JT Miller, and Christopher Brooks.

Grandparents: Felicia and Stephen Floyd, Felton Farrington. 

Great Grandparents: Mae Dorris and Melvin Nesbitt

Aunts and Uncles: James Little, Jeremy Little, Kiante Little, Marcella Little, Lacarriezelle Little, Marva Christian, Kelley Sullivan, Erica Floyd, Andre Floyd, Tajin Floyd, John Wilson, Michelle Bowers, Michael Bowers, Brian Bowers, Willis Bowers, Christopher Nesbit, Nyesha Thompson, Tatyana Nesbitt, Cary Warren, Pashia Jackson:
