Mr. William Swann Obituary

William "Billy" Thomas Swann, son of the late Lawrence Thomas Swann and Mary Elizabeth Jones Swann was born on July 7, 1946, in Hillsborough, North Carolina and transitioned into God's loving hands on March 28, 2023.

During his early years, Billy attended primary school at Efland Cheeks Elementary School to the eighth grade, until his education was halted due to complications from an early childhood illness. Billy would later be placed into the care of the staff at Villines Rest Home for the duration of his life.

Billy was well known for his love of playing baseball, and he participated in the Special Olympics doing just that. His favorite saying was, "I'm gonna knock the peel off that ball!" And he did!!

Billy was a member of Orange Cross Roads and was admired and loved by his Pastors and church congregation. He found great joy in singing with the Male Chorus. His favorite song was " Jesus Loves Me".

He was deeply loved by the community and especially his sister and brothers. When Billy was departing any household, he would always say "I'll be praying for you".

Billy was kind to everyone he met and whenever someone visited him, he would always ask "Did you bring me some chicken?" which was his favorite food. His favorite time of year was Christmas. It gave him great pleasure to open his gifts and he would definitely take some leftovers when leaving your house. Billy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother Mary Elizabeth Jones Swann, his father, Lawrence Thomas Swann: Brothers Donald Jones and Greg Allison. Billy leaves to cherish his memory Brothers Lacy Swann, James Swann (Wife Brenda), Harold Swann (Wife Deloris), Tony Swann, and David Swann all of Alamance County, NC, Sister Ellen Swann Snipes of Efland, NC, Sister In-Laws Patricia Jones, Hillsborough, NC and Shirley Swann, Burlington, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
