Mrs. Annie Parrish Obituary

Annie Faulcon Parrish affectionally known as Anne was born on September 16, 1948, in Littleton, North Carolina. She was the seventh of eight children born to David Faulcon Sr and Effie Mae Faulcon. She quietly and peacefully transitioned into eternal tranquility on March 6, 2023, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, at the age of 74.

Anne began her Christian journey, early in life, at Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Littleton, North Carolina. It was at Enon that she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was baptized, joined the church, and began the pursuit of her Christian purpose. After her marriage, Anne moved her church membership to Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she continued to worship, work, and serve. At Hickory Grove, she served as a Sunday School teacher and Youth Advisor for several years.

Anne's formal primary education was received at the former Mclver High School where she graduated valedictorian of the class of 1966. She continued her education at North Carolina Central University, Durham, North Carolina, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1970. Her post-graduate education was received at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan where she received her Master of Science degree in Mathematics in 1972.

Anne began and ended her work career at IBM in the Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Her employment included mathematician, computer programmer, performance analyst and team leader. Her most notable accomplishments at IBM were programming solutions for the first IBM Supermarket and Retail systems: programming the first IBM bar code scanner, programming retail mathematical solutions, and programming the key entry system. She also won numerous awards for improving the performance of various IBM products such as Local Area Networks and end-user interfaces. Anne retired from IBM after 30 years of exceptional service.

Anne met and married Melvin Parrish Sr. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1977. God blessed them to become proud parents of two beautiful children: one son, Melvin Parrish Jr and one daughter, Alayna Anne Parrish.

Anne lived a great life, standing on the promises of God. She knew that she was on a journey, and she tried to travel it the Christian way. Believing in faith, hope, love, kindness, forgiveness, togetherness, and peace, she exhibited a generosity and warmth that endeared her to others especially youth. Anne believed in serving others, especially those in need of a helping hand. She was a caregiver. Anne will be remembered as a sweet spirit and loving woman.

In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Parrish Jr. and six of her siblings, Nena Barrett, David Faulcon Jr, Lenwood Faulcon Sr, Christine Yvonne Faulcon, Curtis Waddell Faulcon Sr. and Irene Morring.

Treasured memories of her life and love will be forever remembered and shared by her husband, Melvin Parrish Sr, her daughter, Alayna Anne Parish; her step son Phillip Curtis(Keisha); special nephews who were like sons, Leonard White Jr. and Rodney Tyreece DeLoach; her grandchildren, Corey Edwards Jr and Calayah Anne Edwards; her step-grandchildren, Isaiah Curtis and Gabriel Curtis; one sister, Josephine Haley; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
