Hazel M. Atwater was born December 15, 1926, in Chatham County to the late Nume and Liller Milliken. Hazel attended Chatham County school System and later chose a path of service to others. She worked at both University of North Carolina in housekeeping as well as, in home health care, as a service provider. She joined Wesley Chapel Christian Fellowship Church at an early age, and continued throughout her life. She was called home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2022 in her home. She lived a path of faith, family, and service to others. Always knowing, God would take care of her every need.
Hazel enjoyed activities such as traveling, spending time with family, and dancing. She showed her kids and grandchildren, work ethic, unconditional love, and how to live our best life. Hazel believed in being a helping hand, and giver to those who were in a time of need. She communicated with her family daily and never wanted to miss out on any of their life's journeys. Her cooking was impeccable. The hot biscuits, chicken and dumplings, sweet potato pies, and fried anything, was always amazing! Her favorite saying was, what God has for me is for me! She will truly be missed by the family and all those who loved her deeply.
Hazel was preceded in death by husband, Willie Green Atwater, one son Chico Baldwin, and nine brothers and sisters. She leaves behind, cherishing her memories: Two sisters Clara and Ruth Alston of Graham NC; One daughter, Keith Moser (Kenneth); Six sons, Charlie Baldwin (Mozelle), Curtis Baldwin (Charlotte), and Wesley Baldwin; residents of Chapel Hill, NC; Willie Baldwin, Henry Baldwin (Beverly) of Durham, NC and Dale Baldwin of Burlington, NC; One special grandson Sharod Baldwin (in the home); grandchildren, Christy, Howard Jr, Cassandra, Maurice, Myria, Micah, Arlisha, Joe, Jimmy, Sharod, Shiala, Ebony, Genobia, Kiandra, Jonas, Ciara, Curtis Jr, Miquel, Joshua, and Grayson; over 30 great grandchildren and more than 10 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, one special god daughter Alma Taylor, and two special God grandkids Kyle and Kayla Taylor, and friends that will cherish and mourn her life.
