Mrs. Inez (Dawson) Lennon

Obituary

Inez Lennon was born April 16,1934 in Whiteville NC, to the late John and Lorena Dawson. Inez had four sisters and five brothers. 

Inez started her career at Watts Hospital (Durham, NC) where she was a Dietician.  Inez retired from Watts Hospital (now known as Duke Regional Hospital) in Durham NC.  

In her retired years, Inez loved working in the yard, decorating her house and moving furniture around. She also loved to go to church. Inez was a devoted mother and grandmother. Inez loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family. She often would take her grandchildren to the store, where they indulged in various foods such as fish sandwiches, hotdogs, and hamburgers. 

Inez loved crossword puzzles and to watch TV.  But among all things, she loved dipping snuff. She would tease her children and grandchildren and say I’m going to go get my medicine. 

​Inez preceded her death with her late husband William Lawyer Lennon, daughter Thomasine Laverne Lennon and three sisters and five brothers.

Inez leaves behind three son’s Kenneth Lennon Sr. (Omekia), Tony Lennon, and Gary Lennon. Inez leaves two sisters Shirley-Mae Evans and Ionia Apple. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Traci Cumberlander (Bryan), Christopher Lennon, Kenneth Lennon Jr., Shaneka Lennon, Chasity Lennon and Tony Lennon Jr., as well as six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
