Margaret Ingram Ballentine was born November 13, 1931. On November 15, 2021, the Lord called her home. She was the second child of Harold and Betsy Ingram and was preceded in death by four siblings. She received her License Practical Nurse Degree from Durham Technical institute in 1968. She worked as a nurse for 26 years at Memorial Hospital. Margaret was married to the late George Baxter Ballentine, Sr. and from this union seven children were born.
Margaret accepted Christ at an early age and was a life-long member of St. John Holy Church where she was an active member of the church until her death. Serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Pastor's Aide, Women's Auxiliary, and several other ministries throughout the Church.
In 2014, Margaret was honored as "Citizen of the Year" by WCHL radio station. She also volunteered as a Poll Worker for the Orange County Voting Precinct.
Margaret leaves to carry on her legacy, Ruby B. Holmes (Joe) of Harleysville, Pa., George B. Ballentine, Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C., Harold L. Ballentine (Annie) of Chapel Hill, N.C., Shumena B. Horton (Charles) of Greenville, N.C., Shurena F. Ballentine of Durham, N.C., Alvin D. Ballentine of Greensboro, N.C. and Timothy D. Ballentine of Chapel Hill, N.C., two sisters, Lela Allen of Hickory, N.C. and Betsy Noell of Mebane, N.C., two sisters-in-law, Frances Ingram and Mary Ingram of Chapel Hill, N.C. She had five grand-children and nine great grand-children and a host of nieces and nephews and a lot of loving relatives and dear friends.
