Nannie Brown Boldin was born in Pittsboro, NC on August 15, 1925, to the late Mahaley Brown Caldwell and Iley Fikes. During the early morning of February 2, 2023, she gained her wings and was ushered home to be with the Lord.
At a young age Nannie gave her life to God and became a member of Staunton Memorial CME Church. She served as a member of the Missionary Circle and Stewardess Board until the age of 94. As a member of the Stewardess Board her role was to serve three tables: The Lord's Table, The Pastor's Table, and The Table of the Poor.
Within her community she was a founding member of the Helping Hands Club. The club's mission was to provide outreach and support to the mothers and families of Chatham and surrounding counties. This included prayer, food, clothing, and monetary donations to support those in need. She continued her selfless love of giving and support of others throughout the duration of her life.
Nannie maintained a long-standing career as a highly sought-after Steam Presser and Laundry Assistant at The University Laundry, New Way, and Fidelity Cleaners until the early 90's.
Her passion extended to her love of cooking and baking. She was favored by many for her fried chicken and hotdogs at the Terrell's Creek Ball Park. She maintained an open-door policy to anyone in need. Nannie was known for her flare and no-nonsense personality. She required everything and everyone to be decent and in order.
On July 8, 1950, she married the love of her life the late James Robert Boldin. For over 70 years, they maintained an unwavering devotion to one another.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Irene Brown; two sons John David Brown and Willie Robert Boldin.
Mrs. Nannie Boldin leaves to cherish her loving memories: one daughter Claire Boldin; one son Elonzo Boldin (Linda); and sister Shirley Fikes. As well as a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
