Mrs. Neller "Nellie" Lee (Nickerson) Carver, better known to her grandchildren as "Honey" was born to the late Pert and Mary Hadley Anderson Nickerson on February 1st, 1928. She departed this life to be with the lord on August 31st, 2022.
She was educated in Chatham County School system. She joined in matrimony to Edward Carver Jr. with this union, they had four children, and was married for over 60 years.
Nellie started her business, Nellie's Alterations, as a seamstress at Town and Campus for over 30 years. She also worked at S&W Tailors for several years. She saw styles of clothing come and go from bell bottoms to the latest fashion. As an entrepreneur, she saw the trend go towards comfort over custom fit over the years. She retired after her husband became ill, but kept her business open part-time from home for loyal clientele.
Neller was a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, Chapel Hill, NC and remained faithful.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Edward Carver Jr., sisters Mildred Nickerson, A Louise Nickerson, Hazel Baldwin, Blannie Lee Baldwin, and Elle Nickerson, brothers Lyman Nickerson, Carl Nickerson, Alfred Nickerson, Jessie Nickerson, Herman Nickerson, and Willie "Bill" Nickerson, daughter Thelma Jean Briggs Carver and son Pearl Nickerson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, sons Terry Carver (Linda) and Kent Carver, brother Ernest Nickerson, sisters-in-law Louise Carver Bennett, Clara Carver, and Peggy Nickerson. As well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
