A time to be Born
Ola Mae Cinderella Farrington Harris was born March 27, 1936, to Rufus Calvin Farrington and Ola Baldwin Farrington. She was the youngest of seven children.
A time to Die
Ola transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday, November 4, 2022. Her passage to her heavenly home was a peaceful one. Ola's eldest sibling, Joseph Fearrington outran her to the Kingdom literally one week before on October 28, 2022. All other siblings, Sadie, Virginia, Roosevelt, Rufus, and Margaret preceded her in death; they are now reunited once again.
A time to Embrace
Ola embraced education as much as she could. She loved to learn. Ola graduated from Lincoln High School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She continued her education and earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hampton Institute in Virginia, now known as Hampton University, in June 1957.
A time to Plant
Seeds of knowledge were planted by Ola to anyone she met. She had a passion for learning and for teaching others. She was an avid schoolteacher in various schools for many years. Not only did she teach in school, but she "taught" students in church and in the community. Until her failing health, she was an active member of Hamlet Chapel CME Church, where she served in the background whenever needed. Many children at Hamlet Chapel had the benefit of reaping educational seeds sown by "Ola's teachings."
A time to Mourn & Rejoice
She leaves to rejoice in her memory, three sons: Alton Jacinto "Jay" Harris (Stephanie), Bristol, CT, Joderek "Derek" Harris (Nicole) Chapel Hill, NC, Delano Ward (Kim) Norfolk, VA; four grandsons: Alex Harris (Hannah), Charlotte, NC, Bryce Harris, Bristol, CT, Noah Harris, Chapel Hill, NC, Isaiah Harris, Chapel Hill, NC; one granddaughter: Tyra Harris, Bristol, CT, two great grandsons: Bentley and Gavin Harris, Charlotte NC., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She also leaves one bonus daughter, Johnsie W. Cogman (Billy), Accokeek, MD. All take comfort in the belief that there will be a great reunion with Ola Mae one day.
