Miss Dionne Leake took flight on October 28, 2021 to be with the Lord. She was born January 29, 1968 in Chapel Hill, NC. She was a unique being who was never afraid to explore new things. At a very early age, she traveled alone on the Concord to Monte Carlo, France to join her girlfriend and family whose father had been transferred by IBM to France. She promised her mother she would call her at 6:00am from France to wake her up, and did it. Now, this was a 10 year old making a promise.
She was so enamored with France, upon return, she wrote poems and read books in French. As an adult, she traveled to Chile, South America. Afterward, she wrote children's books in Spanish. She was a brilliant child, who started walking at 9 months.
She submitted three patents to the US Patent Office during her lifetime.
She enjoyed gymnastics, playing tennis at Chapel Hill High School and won many medals swimming on the Heritage Hills swim team.
As a UNC graduate, she prided herself on good manners and was always hospitable. Family nicknames for her was Yoni Yoni and Queen and little mommy.
Miss Dionne leaves to celebrate her life, parents: Beverly C. Leake, Chapel Hill, NC and Ernest B. Leake, Durham, NC; siblings: Pam, Michael, and Karla; nieces and nephews: Aaron, Kellen, Samara, Madysyn, Makenze, Cierra, and Kristian; and many cousins.
