Minister Sharon Lynne Bennett answered God's call from earthly labor into eternal reward on Friday, December 17, 2021, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Sharon was born September 5, 1956, in Chapel Hill, NC to Louise Carver Bennett and the late Richard Bennett. She was educated in the Chapel Hill School System and graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 1974.
Later that same year, she attended the University of North Carolina - Adams School of Dentistry in preparation for a career as a Dental Assistant. Her Christian experience began at the young age of 12 when she joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In 1986, she became a member of Faith Tabernacle Oasis of Love International Church and was ordained as a Minister on May 4, 1996, under the leadership of the Late Pastor Robert E. McMillan and Bishop Dr. Ila D. McMillan. Minister Sharon served in various ministries including the Adult Choir, the Mass Choir, the Kitchen Committee, and the Benevolence Ministry. Many young ladies were blessed to experience her lively personality and her ability to push them to their full potential.
Sharon was full of laughter and was known for saying what she meant and meaning what she said. She had a true servant's heart and was often found caring for the sick and shut-in and ministering hope to those who had lost a loved one. She had a strong speaking voice like none other. Her passion for praise was contagious and her worship was always sincere.
Her career spanned across various industries which included being a Chef at The Shepherd House and the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority House. She was a driver for Tarheel Taxi in Chapel Hill, NC, and engaged in private duty nursing in Pittsboro, NC. Sharon worked with the Ridgefield Neighborhood Association where she was instrumental in getting grants for neighborhood programs and she played a key role in the major public housing renovations by addressing the City of Chapel Hill Town Council.
Outside of work, she enjoyed spending time with her family, serving others, and bossing everyone around.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Bennett.
