Miss Shirley Beatrice Edwards, daughter of the late Stephen Noble Edwards and Lillian Beatrice Edwards, was born on March 22, 1938 in Orange County. She departed this life on Thursday, March 24, 2022 after a brief illness. She joined Terrell's Creek Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her death. She was a faithful member of the Missionary Circle and Sunday School.
Shirley was educated in the Orange County school system and graduated in the class of 1957 from Lincoln High, Chapel Hill, NC. Upon graduation, she attended Deshazor Beauty College in Durham, NC and worked at Clara's Beauty Parlor and later fixed hair in her home. She was a volunteer at the Orange County Seymour Center on Aging. Shirley exhibited a quiet, meek spirit and was loved and respected by those she met. She was an excellent example of her faithfulness and unconditional love for everyone she knew and was so deeply loved by her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sisters - Nancy E. Rogers (Jimmy); Annie E. Johnson (Ervin); of Chapel Hill and Evelyn Patrina Cearnal (Alvin) Macon, GA. Two Nephews: Scottie Johnson (Lowanda) of Kathleen, GA; and Stephen Cearnal (Amber) of Macon, GA. Two Nieces: Valarie McCauley (Donovan) Jamestown, NC; Apryle C. Brown (Leo) Atlanta, GA. Two special Nieces: Christina R. Lipsey (Donnie) Knightdale, NC; Shaumon
Campbell, Chapel Hill, NC. four great nephews and two great
nieces, a host of relatives and friends.
