Pastor Jean Iris (Alston) Dunmore

Pastor Jean Alston Dunmore was a born-again Christian who put Christ first in all she did in life. She was born December 12, 1942, in Orange County to the late Aaron Alston and late Pastor Christine Alston. She was called from labor to reward on November 4, 2021.

She attended Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools and upon graduations held various domestic jobs. Her most notable job was serving as the Pastor of Alston Memorial Holy Church in Cedar Grove, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Franklin R. Dunmore, daughter, Terri Gathers Williams and brothers Clyde Alston and Douglas Alston.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son Danny Dunmore and daughter-in-law, Kristie Dunmore of Hendersonville, NC; two granddaughters, Christine Gathers and Jeanne Gathers of Hurdle Mills, NC; brother Michael Alston of Chapel Hill, NC; an aunt, Mary M. Thompson-Flowers (Pastor Lester) of Durham, NC; an uncle, Ned Thompson of Chapel Hill, NC; a niece, Bernadine Cobb of Durham, NC and nephew, Clyde Alston (Nadia) of Garner, NC; and a host of other in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
